For a limited time, MaineHealth is offering up to a $4,000 Sign-on bonus for all eligible Patient Access Apprentice - Emergency Department positions.
Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part-time position. Bonus amount prorated for Part-time hires; per diem hires are ineligible.
Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.
Summary:
The Apprentice - Patient Access role is the entry role for Patient Access and schedules, pre-registers, registers, and admits patients to the hospital. Serves as the first contact for many patients. Must convey a caring and professional attitude for all patients and visitors. Determines insurance coverage, eligibility, and performs required pre-authorization procedures. Maintains patient care unit control for all bedded units. Provides comprehensive financial counseling and assistance. Establishes and monitors each patient’s account prior to their visit, during inpatient stays, and up to 5 days post-discharge. Ensures the accuracy of the patient’s unique identification number and the demographic and financial information used to create an electronic bill. Informs patients of estimated financial responsibilities and collects up-front payments and co-payments based on the estimate.
