Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a patient access professional to check in patients for appointments, verify demographics, ensure all check-in steps are completed, and monitor patient wait times while communicating changes to the patient.

The role involves reading insurance responses, assigning primary/secondary/tertiary coverage, handling disclosures and signatures, collecting fees, completing regulatory forms, and scheduling follow-ups including specialty or ancillary services.

Responsibilities

• Check in patients for appointments and verify demographics.
• Ensure all check-in steps are completed and monitor patient wait times.
• Read and interpret insurance responses and assign coverage (primary/secondary/tertiary).
• Provide necessary disclosures and obtain legal/financial signatures.
• Communicate financial obligations and collect fees at time of service as appropriate.
• Complete regulatory forms and schedule follow-up appointments including specialty or ancillary services.
