Job summary

Krystal Biotech, Inc. is seeking a Patient Access Liaison to educate patients, caregivers and healthcare staff on payer requirements, prior authorizations, and site options.

This field-based role covers IL, IN, MI, OH and KY, with a regional focus on Chicago, Indianapolis or Cincinnati. You will collaborate with specialty pharmacies and distributors, document case progress in the Krystal CRM, and travel 30–50% to support access and adherence for patients receiving rare disease therapies.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree required.
• 5+ years of experience (field-based preferred) in patient services, field reimbursement, biopharma sales or account management with at least 1 year educating patients/families.
• Scientific background and ability to learn product and disease information.
• Orphan or rare disease experience working with patients/caregivers.
• Familiarity with HIPAA guidelines and FDA regulations.
• Ability to travel 30%–50%.
• Ability to handle difficult patient cases and resolve hurdles.
• Team-based work style with internal teams, specialty pharmacy partners and field sales.
• Respond within 24 hours to prevent lapses in treatment.
• Experience with Patient Journey Navigator (PJN) or similar workflow preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide product reimbursement, distribution, logistical and non-medical education to patients/caregivers and HCP staff.
• Educate on payer access, insurance processes, and authorization requirements.
• Help patients locate sites of care near home and home dosing options.
• Navigate office and SOC staff to support coverage and access needs.
• Explain affordability options including copay assistance and PAP.
• Offer non-medical educational support on initiating therapy.
• Coordinate next appointment and treatment with patients.
• Build trusted relationships via phone, text, email, virtual or in-person.
• Follow a planned education program to optimize adherence.
• Educate large centers and prescribers on product procurement, billing and coding.
• Document progress in Krystal patient CRM/Workflow system and complete tasks.
• Other duties as assigned.
