Job summary

Mid Coast Hospital, part of MaineHealth, is seeking a Patient Access Associate I for the 24/7 Emergency Department. This on-site, non-clinical role handles patient identification, arrival and armband application, and provides customer service to visitors and families.

The Associate I will collect demographics, verify insurance, obtain signatures for consent and assist with admissions. Opportunities for financial navigation and transfers may be included.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Related healthcare or customer service experience preferred.
• Computer and data entry experience with Word, email and internet required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact in the Emergency Department for patient identification and armband application.
• Provide customer service and support for visitors and families.
• Assist with demographics, insurance verification, consent signatures and admissions.
• Support financial navigation, copay collection, transfers and post-discharge follow-up.
