Job summary

Rogers Memorial Hospital, Inc. seeks an Intake Specialist to welcome patients and families, educate them on admissions, collect essential information, and complete Cerner registrations. You will coordinate with teams to ensure smooth transitions to the appropriate program and provide a supportive, compliant admission experience.

The role requires strong communication, HIPAA knowledge, and the ability to handle sensitive situations, with on-call and weekend rotations as part of the schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required with preference for related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in healthcare access.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and admissions paperwork required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and caregivers and educate them on admissions.
• Collect and verify medical, insurance and demographic information.
• Explain forms and obtain necessary signatures for admissions.
• Register patients in the Cerner system and manage documents.
• Coordinate with Patient Access and schedule bed assignments as needed.
• Maintain calm, professional interactions and de-escalate crises when required.
• Participate in on-call coverage and weekend rotations per schedule.
