Job summary

Women & Infants Hospital seeks a Patient Access Associate to receive, process, and register patients for outpatient and inpatient services. You will collect demographic, physician, and insurance information, secure pre-registration data, and support admission paperwork for Imaging services and direct admissions.

Responsibilities include completing registration, coordinating room assignments, obtaining financial information, and maintaining patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; Associates degree preferred or at least two years equivalent experience in a health care environment.
• Knowledge of third party payers preferred.
• Excellent typing skills and ability to operate standard office equipment necessary.
• Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills and be proficient in the English language.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, word processing, statistical tools such as Lotus 1-2-3 and other computer applications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Registers patients entering the hospital for most outpatient and inpatient services, including pre-registrations for Diagnostic Imaging Services as well as direct admits to the hospital.
• Completes all necessary forms and procedures for registration/admission process.
• Obtains patient financial information to ensure proper payment of hospital service provided.
• Assigns bed and room accommodations.
• Provides clerical support to the department as needed.
• Protects and preserves patient rights to confidentiality.
• Participates in functions to achieve overall department goals and objectives.
• Performs other job-related duties as required or directed.
