Job summary

The role requires attention to detail, medical terminology knowledge, and the ability to produce timely, confidential reports to support patient care.

You will edit, proofread, format reports, enter data into LIS and EMR, and collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology and pathology terminology.
• Excellent typing, transcription, proofreading, and editing skills.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with pathologists, laboratory staff, and administrative personnel.

Responsibilities

• Transcribe pathology reports, gross descriptions, microscopic findings, consultations, addenda, and final diagnoses from physician dictation.
• Edit, proofread, and format pathology reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper medical terminology.
• Review reports for grammatical, spelling, and formatting errors prior to physician sign-off.
• Enter pathology reports and supporting documentation into the laboratory information system (LIS) and electronic medical record (EMR) as needed.
• Assist with report amendments, corrections, and addenda in accordance with department policies.
