Job summary

The Pathology Transcriptionist is responsible for accurately transcribing pathology reports and related medical documentation as dictated by the pathologist. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong knowledge of medical terminology, and the ability to produce timely, accurate reports while maintaining patient confidentiality and compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.

The Transcriptionist works closely with pathologists and laboratory staff to ensure pathology

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-2 years of medical transcription experience preferred.
• Excellent typing, transcription, proofreading, and editing skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and pathology terminology.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA.

Responsibilities

• Transcribe pathology reports, gross descriptions, microscopic findings, consultations, addenda, and final diagnoses from physician dictation.
• Edit, proofread, and format pathology reports to ensure accuracy and proper medical terminology.
• Enter pathology reports into LIS and EMR as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to support efficient workflow.
