Locum Tenens Pathologist Opportunity - Athens, GeorgiaHospital-Based Starting July 2025 6+ Month AssignmentJoin a well-established hospital laboratory team in Athens, Georgia, providing critical pathology services in a supportive, collaborative environment. This long-term locum opportunity is due to an upcoming retirement and is ideal for experienced pathologists seeking a stable and engaging role.Position Overview:- Start Date: July 1, 2025
- Duration: Minimum 6-month assignment
- Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM or 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM
- Call: Rotating every two weeks (includes blood bank/rare organ procurement/frozen section duties)
- Setting: Hospital-based pathology group
- Volume: 10-15 cases/day per pathologist
- Clinical Load: 1,800 billables/day in clinical lab
Clinical Responsibilities:- Surgical pathology, grossing (rotates biopsy vs. surgical specimens daily)
- Frozen sections (after-hours only), techs cut during business hours
- Specimen review per lab criteria (frozen, cytology, etc.)
- Participation in on-call rotation including rare organ procurement
- Bone marrow aspiration/biopsy and interpretation
- Autopsy (minimal volume)
- No trauma cases
- Cytology: Non-GYN only (liquid base prep)
Team & Equipment:- Team: 2 Pathologists, 6 Histotechnologists
- Supervision: None required
- Other Pathologists Onsite during coverage
- Lab Certifications: CLIA, CAP, AABB
- EMR: Epic Beaker
- Equipment: Bond IHC, Leica & Thermo Cryostats, Zeiss Microscopes
Required Qualifications:- Board Certification in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology
- Active Georgia Medical License - Required
- BLS Certification - Required
- Comfortable with both anatomic and clinical pathology responsibilities
