Job summary

Atlantic Health is seeking a Pathology Supervisor to oversee daily operations within the Pathology Department under the Laboratory Operations Manager. You will ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and efficient performance across shifts.

The role requires extensive CLIA qualifications, leadership experience in a clinical lab, and strong collaboration with multiple departments to support Atlantic Health laboratory operations.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with a current medical license or doctoral/master/bachelor/associate degree in clinical laboratory science or related field.
• US equivalency documentation required for foreign credentials.
• CLIA qualifications for high complexity testing required.
• Must meet CLIA requirements for General Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily lab operations for the appropriate section(s). Establish policies and coverage for all shifts.
• Act as a technical resource; evaluate new procedures and instrumentation; ensure accuracy and turnaround time.
• Follow QC policies; document calibrations and maintenance; monitor SOP compliance.
• Support budget preparation; monitor financial performance; manage inventory and expirations.
• Lead system and site committees; communicate updates; coordinate inspections across departments.
• Develop laboratory team members; set performance expectations; support growth and conduct performance management.
• Maintain proficiency testing; coordinate inspections; ensure regulatory documentation.
• Oversee orientation, training, and competency of team members and students.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Atlantic Health and department safety procedures.

Education

MD or DO with a current medical license

Doctoral degree in clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical or biological science

Master's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical or biological science

Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical or biological

Associate degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory or equivalent education and training

Foreign education credentials require US equivalency documentation by an AHS approved agency
