Job summary

Atlantic Health System is seeking a Clinical Lab Assistant to support laboratory operations under the supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor. You will assist with specimen processing, registration, test ordering, labeling, storage, and workflow efficiency.

Responsibilities include equipment assistance, inventory monitoring, maintaining accurate documentation, using HIS/LIS systems, and participating in safety training and ongoing education.

Qualifications

• Must be able to register patients and order tests accurately.
• Able to verify patient information and ensure timely specimen handling.
• Must label, store and process specimens per guidelines.
• Operate lab equipment with adherence to procedures and report issues.
• Maintain inventory: check expiration dates and organize storage areas.
• Use HIS/LIS software proficiently for job tasks.
• Assist with training and continuing education as required.

Responsibilities

• Specimen Processing: Performs patient registration and test ordering, verifies patient information, ensures timely specimen handling, and resolves processing issues to maintain accuracy and efficient workflow.
• Equipment: Assists technical Team Members by performing duties assigned in loading of samples, performing maintenance.
• Inventory Management: Monitors and manages supply inventory, checks expiration dates, stores received items and keeps the storage areas clean and organized.
• System Utilization: Demonstrates proficiency in the use of HIS and LIS software applications for job-related functions.
• Training and Education: Assists with training of new team members or students as required. Completes mandatory continuing education.
• Safety: Follows PPE protocols and ensures a clean, safe workspace.
• Document Control: Follows all approved standard operating policies and procedures.
