Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Health System is seeking an experienced laboratory leader to oversee day-to-day technical operations within the laboratory section. You will lead staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and guide quality initiatives to enhance patient care.

You will collaborate with the Department Manager and other departments to optimize performance, workflow, and staff development while maintaining high standards of safety and accuracy across testing processes.

Qualifications

• Requires licensure and formal training in medical laboratory technology.
• Associates or higher degree in relevant lab field; professional certification preferred.
• Experience with regulatory standards (CAP, CLIA) and quality systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and guidance to staff in goal setting, problem solving, resource management, and outcome achievement.
• Collaborate with Department Manager to define performance objectives and assess staff competence.
• Collaborate with other departments to address issues affecting patient care and departmental goals.
• Incorporate quality improvement and patient satisfaction data into department plans.
• Ensure compliance with regulations related to patient care and department functions.
• Oversee staffing and training, maintain competency, and manage workflow across the section.
• Maintain equipment performance, QC, and instrument maintenance.
• Assure documentation and records meet regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
