Job summary

Asante is seeking a Lab Assistant/Specimen Processor in Grants Pass, OR. The role supports the Pathology Lab, processing specimens and assisting with histology, cytology, and transcription workflows.

Requires a high school diploma or GED, with preferred medical terminology knowledge and 1 year of healthcare/lab experience. The position offers 0.9 FTE with swing and night shifts, recognized by a competitive total rewards package and potential certs like ASCP LM.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• 1 year of laboratory or healthcare experience recommended.
• Phlebotomy experience or knowledge of lab tests beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process laboratory specimens according to SOPs.
• Assist with slide preparation, staining, cover slipping, and labeling.
• Support transcriptionist workflows and pathology report preparation.
• Ensure accurate order entry and monitoring of requisition dates.
• Handle specimen handling, packaging, and data entry as needed.
