Job summary

Asante’s Pathology Lab seeks a Lab Assistant/Specimen Processor to receive and process specimens, ensuring accuracy and quality per regulatory standards. You will assist histology, cytology, and transcription workflows, including slide prep, staining, and labeling, while maintaining detailed case documentation.

The role requires 1 year of lab experience or healthcare-related education with medical terminology, plus flexibility for variable hours, weekends and holidays. Competitive rewards apply.

Qualifications

• 1 year of laboratory experience or education/healthcare experience with medical terminology.
• Specimen processing experience including handling and packaging, preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience and/or knowledge of laboratory tests and ordering processes, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process laboratory specimens per regulatory requirements and SOPs.
• Assess requisition dates, specimen adequacy and acceptability to ensure accurate entry and results.
• Support histology, cytology, and transcriptionist workflows; assist with slide preparation, staining, labeling.
• Perform transcriptionist duties including pathology report transcription, case preparation and report distribution.
