Asante is seeking a Lab Assistant/Specimen Processor in Grants Pass, OR. The role supports the Pathology Lab, processing specimens and assisting with histology, cytology, and transcription workflows.
Requires a high school diploma or GED, with preferred medical terminology knowledge and 1 year of healthcare/lab experience. The position offers 0.9 FTE with swing and night shifts, recognized by a competitive total rewards package and potential certs like ASCP LM.
Due to the nature of the work - this position does require the flexibility to work variable hours and variable days - to include day, evening, weekend and holidays hours.
SalaryRange:$19.27 - $26.50.
TheLab Assistant/Specimen Processorcontributes to the overall patient experience by using organizational and communication skills to receive and process laboratory specimens as specified by regulatory requirements and laboratory standard operating procedures. This is done through assessing requisition dates, specimen adequacy and acceptability to ensure accurate order entry and high-quality laboratory results.
In the Pathology Lab specifically, you will also support histology, cytology, and transcriptionist workflows. Some duties include but are not limited to assisting with slide preparation, staining, cover slipping, and labeling. You will also perform transcriptionist related duties including pathology report transcription, case preparation, document review and report distribution.
