Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Pathology Grossing Technician to perform grossing, dissection and dictation of biopsies under the supervision of a Pathologist/Pathologists’ Assistant. The role includes specimen handling, labeling, processing, and assisting with frozen sections as needed. The position requires an A.S.

degree or equivalent training (B.S. preferred) and emphasizes accuracy, confidentiality, and adherence to hospital policies.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Receive, accession and label biopsies and specimens under supervision.
• Dissect and gross surgical specimens according to hospital procedures.
• Assist pathologists with frozen section as needed.
• Load and operate tissue processors as needed.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and inventory of supplies.
• Retrieve, document, package and send out slides and blocks.
