Job summary

St. Luke’s University Health Network seeks a Pathologists’ Assistant to prepare and examine surgical specimens, dictate gross descriptions via voice transcription, and assist in autopsy-related tasks. The role includes mentoring residents and students and helping orient new staff.

The position requires ASCP certification (or equivalent training), a science-related bachelor’s degree with CLIA high-complexity testing eligibility, and prior pathology experience. Training and teamwork are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science related field and ASCP certification or 3 years experience preferred.
• Must be qualified to perform high complexity testing under CLIA regulations.
• Formal pathologists’ assistant training or ASCP certification with OTJ training qualifies.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and performs examinations of surgical specimens.
• Uses voice-activated transcription system to dictate gross descriptions.
• Assists in preparation and performance of post-mortem examinations.
• Participates in orientation of new staff; teaches/mentors residents and students.
• Handles multiple assignments with the ability to adapt to changes.
