Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Pathologists’ Assistant to perform gross examination, dissection, and specimen submission for histologic evaluation in the Histology Laboratory. The role requires a BA/BS and completion of an NAACLS-accredited program, with ASCP certification or eligibility pursued.

Under supervision of a board-certified Anatomic Pathologist, you’ll prepare specimens, document gross findings, and support process improvements, while training staff and ensuring policy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
• Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program.
• PA (ASCP) certification or eligible and in process.

Responsibilities

• Gross description and dissection of surgical tissues for histologic evaluation.
• Submission and preparation of specimens for histologic testing.
• Gross specimen photography and documentation.
• Process improvement within the laboratory workflow.
• Processing of frozen sections and/or touch preparations for rapid interpretation.
• Training of new employees within scope of practice as necessary.
• Technical review and writing of procedures with the Anatomic Pathology Manager.
• Participation in relevant meetings and ongoing education.
• Maintain equipment and a clean work area per policies.
