Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a biological science is required.
• Master's degree in Pathologist Assistant Studies preferred.
• Certification as a Pathologist Assistant (PA) by the ASCP or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a pathology laboratory setting.
• Proficiency in gross examination techniques and tissue processing.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens under the supervision of a pathologist.
• Prepare tissues for microscopic examination, ensuring accurate specimen accessioning and labeling.
• Assist in autopsies by collecting and preparing tissues, organs, and body fluids for analysis.
• Maintain accurate records of specimen handling, processing, and examination results.
• Perform special procedures such as photography and radiography of specimens as required.
• Assist in the teaching and training of pathology residents and medical students.
• Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
