Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Pathologists’ Assistant for a casual, as-needed role at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, IL. Rotating shifts apply and you will work closely with pathologists.

You will perform gross examination, dissection of biopsies, and sampling to support diagnosis, assist with resident training, and participate in lab operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university.
• Successful completion of NAACLA accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program within the last five years.

Responsibilities

• Performs gross examination and dissection of surgical biopsies and large complicated specimens.
• Maintains specimen integrity and accurate identification throughout all processes.
• Provides intra-operative consultation assistance and documents turn-around-time tracking information.
• Prepares specimens for imaging and photographs, and maintains imaging equipment/files.
• Participates in autopsies and reviews findings with attending pathologists.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university

Successful NAACLA accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program within last five years
