Qualifications

• Associates degree (or 60 sem hrs/90 qtr hrs with biology/chemistry) eligible to take ASCP exam.
• Must obtain Histotechnician (HT) ASCP certification within 1 year of hire.
• Must meet CLIA high complexity testing requirements and related accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine histology procedures and embeds tissues per SOP to prepare slides for microscopic review.
• Communicates with pathologists, residents, and coordinators regarding specimen issues.
• Operates tissue processors, microtome, and automated staining/coverslipping instruments per SOP.
• Ensures proper documentation in the LIMS, cassettes, slides and logs per regulatory standards.
• Maintains clean, safe work environment and participates in QA/QC programs as needed.
• Assists with gross examination and specimen handling, reporting discrepancies to supervisor.
