Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Pathologist Assistant to perform gross surgical pathology duties, including dissection and gross photography, and to assist in training residents and fellows. The role includes tissue submission for microscopic examination and maintaining the tumor bank, with rotating hours and day shift coverage within the Anatomic Pathology department.

Required is a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field, with preferred Master’s and AAAA-certified credentials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in appropriate field of study required.
• Master's degree as a Pathologist Assistant preferred.
• Certification as a Pathologist Assistant from an AAAA-approved program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs gross surgical pathology functions including dissection, examination and gross dictation of large and small surgical specimens, and gross photography.
• Selects and submits tissue sections for microscopic examination and special studies.
• Maintain tumor bank specimens.

Master's degree as a Pathologist Assistant

Certification as a Pathologist Assistant from a program approved by the American Association of Pathologists' Assistants
