Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a Pathologist Assistant for a full-time exempt position. The role involves gross surgical pathology, dissection, dictation, and specimen handling with rotating day shifts (40 hours/week).

The incumbent will prepare tissue sections for microscopic examination, assist residents, and participate in tumor bank activities. A Bachelor's is required; a Master’s and AAPA certification are preferred. Signing bonus may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in appropriate field of study.
• Master's degree preferred for Pathologist Assistant.
• Certification as a Pathologist Assistant from an AAPA-approved program.

Responsibilities

• Performs gross surgical pathology dissection and dictation for large and small specimens.
• Selects and submits tissue sections for microscopic examination and related studies.
• Maintains tumor bank specimens and assists in resident training and teaching.
• Performs human post-mortem examinations and related findings demonstrations to supervising pathologist.

Education

Bachelor's degree in appropriate field of study

Master's degree as a Pathologist Assistant

Certification as a Pathologist Assistant (AAPA-approved program)
