Wellstar Spalding Regional Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Pathologist's Assistant to support licensed pathologists with gross examination, dissection of surgical specimens, and preparation for histopathology.

You will assist with autopsies, manage specimen labeling, and help maintain laboratory equipment in a collaborative team. The role requires strong organization, good communication, and computer skills to accession specimens, with opportunities to train staff and contribute to AQ/QC programs

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Science or accredited program is required.
• All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
• Certification/eligibility by AAPA or PA(ASCP) within 120 days; NAACLS training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens.
• Perform autopsies and collect specimens for microscopic examination.
• Prepare tissues for histopathology processing.
• Assist in preparing frozen sections during intraoperative consultations.
• Record and analyze patient histories and clinical findings.
• Maintain and operate laboratory equipment.
• Ensure accurate labeling and documentation of specimens.
• Collaborate with pathologists and other medical professionals.
• Supervise and train laboratory personnel.
• Comply with safety and quality control standards.
