Job summary

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, Inc.

seeks a Research Associate to conduct independent research supporting pathogen-agnostic characterization of biological samples using advanced molecular, microbiological, and genomic techniques. You will design experiments, analyze complex datasets, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to identify known and emerging threats for public health and biodefense.

Qualifications

Master's degree with at least 3 years of relevant research experience.
Experience conducting molecular biology experiments and data analysis.
Ability to obtain and maintain US Secret clearance; willingness to work in BSL-3.

Responsibilities

Design, execute, and optimize pathogen-agnostic characterization studies.
Conduct advanced molecular biology experiments including nucleic acid extraction, library prep, NGS, and genomic characterization.
Analyze complex biological, genomic, metagenomic, transcriptomic, and microbiological datasets.
Collaborate with bioinformaticians and data scientists to integrate laboratory findings with computational analyses.
Prepare and review technical reports, SOPs, and publications.
Lead or support research initiatives in infectious disease surveillance and biodefense.
