Job summary

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, Inc. seeks a Laboratory Technician to perform pathogen-agnostic laboratory characterization using molecular biology, NGS, and broad-spectrum analytical methods.

You will work to detect, identify, and characterize biological agents while upholding biosafety and quality standards. You will support AFRL CHEERS, contribute to translational research and surveillance, and collaborate with scientists to advance public health

Qualifications

• Associate degree required for lab work.
• 0–2 years of experience preferred.
• Knowledge of molecular biology and microbiology techniques.
• DNA/RNA extraction and purification experience.
• Familiarity with NGS workflows and analyses.
• BSL-3 containment experience or training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform pathogen-agnostic testing and characterization of samples.
• Prepare, process, and analyze clinical/environmental specimens.
• Conduct DNA/RNA extraction, library construction, and QC for NGS.
• Operate and maintain sequencing platforms and automation equipment.
• Support metagenomic, genomic, and transcriptomic analyses.
• Maintain accurate lab records and regulatory documentation.
• Ensure biosafety, biosecurity, and proper waste handling.
