Job summary

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine is seeking a Bioinformatics Research Associate III to conduct computational analysis of complex datasets to support pathogen-agnostic characterization and to develop pipelines, visualizations, and reports for public health and biodefense initiatives.

The role emphasizes collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and ongoing tool development.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required with 6–8 years of experience.
• Experience analyzing NGS, metagenomic, transcriptomic, genomic and microbiome datasets.
• US citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Analyze NGS, metagenomic, transcriptomic, genomic, and microbiome datasets to identify pathogens.
• Perform QC, preprocessing, assembly, taxonomic classification, annotation, and comparative analyses.
• Integrate lab data with computational workflows for pathogen discovery and surveillance.
• Develop and optimize computational methods and pipelines for broad-spectrum threat detection.
• Interpret complex data and generate insights for research, public health, biodefense, and diagnostics.
• Collaborate with scientists across disciplines to support multidisciplinary projects.
• Create data visualizations, dashboards, and reports for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
