Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a senior patent attorney to maximize its competitive position through strategic IP leadership, advising cross-functional R&D and business teams on patent matters.

You will draft, file, and prosecute patent applications worldwide, challenge and defend patents in IPR and post-grant proceedings, and conduct prior art searches and due diligence for business development responsibilities.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and USPTO registration.
• 8+ years of patent law experience in law firms or life sciences companies.
• Technical background in medical devices, pharma, or related fields.
• Strong legal, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Maximize AbbVie’s competitive position through IP strategies.
• Provide legal advice to cross-functional R&D and business teams on IP matters.
• Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications worldwide.
• Challenge and defend patents in IPR, opposition, interference, and other post-grant proceedings.
• Conduct prior art searches and support due diligence for business development activities.
