Job summary

AbbVie seeks an in-house Associate General Counsel for the Patent Prosecution group, supporting pharmaceutical products. This role is based in North Chicago, IL, with the option to work from Waltham, MA, South San Francisco, CA, or Irvine, CA, on a hybrid model (on site 3+ days/week).

You will develop intellectual property strategies for AbbVie’s products and candidates, focusing on neuroscience, and lead cross-functional efforts with R&D and business teams.

Qualifications

• JD degree and USPTO registration required.
• 8+ years in patent law with US and foreign prosecution.
• Experience with life sciences/pharma patent prosecution preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop IP strategies for AbbVie's products and candidates.
• Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications worldwide, directly or via outside counsel.
• Challenge and defend patents in post-grant proceedings and manage related due diligence.
