Job summary

Ofinno, a Reston, VA-based R&D lab, seeks a Patent Engineer to transform cutting-edge research into strategic IP assets. You will collaborate with inventors, prosecute patent applications, and align with 3GPP standards to strengthen the portfolio and influence the wireless technology landscape.

The role emphasizes claim development, standards alignment, and strategic IP decisions, contributing to long-term value creation for the company.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or similar.
2+ years of patent prosecution or patent drafting experience.
Knowledge of wireless communications (5G/6G).
Knowledge of 3GPP standards-related technologies.
Demonstrated proficiency in writing, research, and communicating complex ideas clearly.

Responsibilities

Identify innovative features suitable for patenting and mine existing applications for additional subject matter to claim.
Prosecute patent applications, collaborate with inventors, respond to office actions, and conduct examiner interviews.
Develop claim charts that establish reads on the 3GPP standard.
Ensure integrity of patent files, prioritize workload, and monitor deadlines.
Provide patent landscaping and prior-art searches.
