Job summary

Ofinno, a Reston, VA-based R&D lab focused on 5G/6G, is seeking a Senior Patent Attorney or Agent to manage the IP needs of the 6G Innovation Lab. You will work with inventors to draft, file, and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO and foreign counterparts.

Responsibilities include developing SEP portfolios, drafting standard-related patent applications, and coordinating global prosecution, with opportunities for collaboration with on-site engineers.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Active registration as a US and/or European patent attorney/agent.
• 2+ years of experience with 3GPP-related patent applications and prosecution.
• Extensive experience with patent prosecution before the EPO.
• Extensive experience with 3GPP-related technologies and standards.
• Previous in-house and/or top-tier law firm experience.
• Ability to innovate and adapt to new ways of doing things.
• Strong organizational skills, technical acumen and writing ability.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for standard essential patent (SEP) portfolio development.
• Draft 5G/6G standard-related patent applications in-house.
• Prosecute pending patent applications globally, primarily before the USPTO and EPO.
• Evaluate our patents and patent applications with prior art searching.
• Review claim charts to ascertain claim scope and mapping to wireless standards.
• Collaborate closely with on-site technical experts and inventors.
