Job summary

Ofinno in Reston, Virginia seeks a 3GPP SA Standards Engineer to influence wireless standardization and shape next‑gen RAN concepts. You will work closely with 3GPP and other standards bodies to advance radio access technologies, build on Ofinno IP, and drive impactful standardization proposals.

This role spans concept creation, IP strategy, and collaboration with global teams to ensure research aligns with business goals.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Ph.D. preferred.
• 5+ years as a delegate in 3GPP standardization (SA2/CT1).
• Proven track record in 3GPP standards contributions and IP creation.
• Proficiency in 5G/6G system architecture and NAS concepts.
• Strong writing, research, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.

• Participate in 3GPP SA2/CT1 meetings and contribute to standards.

Position Overview

As a 3GPP SA Standards Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in defining the future of wireless communication by contributing to the development of global radio standardization specifications. Working closely with 3GPP and other global standards organizations, you will be responsible for creating and promoting innovative concepts, building upon Ofinno’s intellectual property, and advancing radio access technologies. This position offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of next‑generation wireless innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in 3GPP standardization meetings within SA2 or CT1working groups, contributing to the evolution of 3GPPstandards.
• Lead the creation and promotion of Intellectual Property Rights and 3GPP standardization proposals.
• Develop inventions and expand Ofinno's Intellectual Property portfolio.
• Define and evaluate concepts and solutions for future 3GPP system architecture and NAS protocols.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure research aligns with broader business objectives.
• Present technical findings and proposals to clients and industry partners.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; a Ph.D. is strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of experience as a delegate in 3GPP standardization activities, particularly within SA2 orCT1.
• Proven track record of successful contributions to 3GPP standards and activities.
• Proven expertise in leading the creation of Intellectual Property in the context of 3GPP standardization.
• In‑depth understanding of 5GS and 6G system architecture.
• Demonstrated proficiency in writing, research, and technical skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.
• Strong ability to work independently and adapt to dynamic priorities and organizational structures.
• Experience as a feature lead or rapporteur in SA2 or CT1topics is preferred.
