Job summary

Job Description

Omni PGA Frisco is now hiring a creative Pastry Cook 1.

The Pastry Cook 1 will lead a shift team of 2-3 people, prepare all hot and cold food items, and ensure consistency and quality in production, serving all food according to specifications.

Responsibilities

  1. Maintain kitchen sanitation in accordance with health department guidelines.
  2. Perform work assignments to meet proper quantities within necessary time frames.
  3. Control quality and consistency of all food served.
  4. Ensure functions are completed 30 minutes prior to service.
  5. Understand and maintain all standard recipes.
  6. Ensure all food supplies needed for service are stocked timely and inform supervisors of any issues.
  7. Produce sweet items, pastries, cakes, fruit compotes, breads, chocolates, etc., for all outlets, banquets, and amenities.
  8. Assist in producing and plating banquet pastries.
  9. Work well under pressure to meet production schedules and timelines.
  10. Prioritize, organize, delegate work, and follow through.
  11. Perform job functions independently without supervision.
  12. Support procedures for food and beverage portion control and waste reduction.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
  14. Be knowledgeable and capable of preparing and plating all pastry and dessert items to Omni standards promptly.
  15. Have a solid understanding of baking skills and techniques.
  16. Follow all company procedures.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of 3 years of culinary experience in a fast-paced hotel or restaurant kitchen; fine dining experience preferred.
  2. Ability to multi-task in a high-pressure environment while executing delegated tasks.
  3. Must be able to stand for 8+ hours per day.
  4. Flexible scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  5. Clear thinker, calm under pressure, with good judgment for problem-solving.
  6. Maintain cleanliness of work area at all times.
  7. Intermediate math skills for recipes and measurements.
  8. Maintain professional appearance, attitude, and performance.
  9. Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods.
  10. Culinary degree and/or formal training preferred.
  11. Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions.
