· The Pastry Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality baked goods and desserts in a high-volume production environment. This role ensures consistency, precision, and efficiency while following standardized recipes and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the pastry kitchen. RESPONSIBILITIES: Create and prepare all pastry items for the restaurant as well as special functions. Scale, mix, bake, and assemble pastry items with consistency and attention to detail
· Prepare bread and pastry recipes from scratch
· Follow portioning, presentation, and plating guidelines as set by the Pastry Chef
· Ensure all products meet quality standards, including consistency and presentation
· Coordinate proper food storage according to the standing operating procedure
· Ensure the kitchen is clean and always sanitized
· Operate functions of the position alone and without assistance if necessary
· Perform calmly and effectively in a high-volume environment
· Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the pastry shop
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions
· Needs a basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills
· Basic knowledge of how to produce cakes, tarts, mousses, batters, doughs, custards, frostings, and ice creams is required
· Must have basic cake decorating skills
· Must have basic math skills to produce correctly sized batches
· Must have a general understanding and knowledge of how to use and maintain equipment in the area properly
REQUIREMENTS: • Minimum 2 years of experience in high volume and fine dining restaurants/hotels/country clubs preferred but not required • Culinary diploma with a concentration in Pastry Arts or equivalent in experience strongly preferred • Team-oriented and positive attitude • Strong communication skills a must
