Job summary

Rustic Bakery in Novato is seeking dedicated pastry bakers to join our growing team. You will prepare and bake pastry products according to Rustic Bakery formulas, monitor quality, and help maintain a clean, organized bakery environment.

This role requires early morning availability, teamwork, and adherence to food safety standards. We value reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work overtime or weekends as needed in a fast-paced, locally sourced production setting.

• Weekends and holiday availability is required.

Responsibilities

• Follows all food safety preparation and handling requirements including sanitation standards.
• Ensures Bakery area is kept clean, neat, and organized.
• Works alongside and shares in the daily duties of the other bakery staff.
• Follows proper timekeeping procedures including clocking in and out for shifts.
• Promotes teamwork and a safe, productive work environment.
• Follows bakery SOPs and adheres to the daily production plan.
• Observes color of products and adjusts oven temperatures or time accordingly.
• Performs equipment cleaning and reports broken or malfunctioning equipment.
• Monitors quality and consistency of finished product and minimizes waste.
• Assists with other bakery duties as needed.

We operate five popular cafes in Marin and have a wholesale production division making flatbread crackers, cookies and crisps in Petaluma. SUMMARY

The duties for this position are preparing and baking pastry products according to Rustic Bakery formulas. Monitors for quality to ensure all items meet Rustic Bakery standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follows all food safety preparation and handling requirements including established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health department requirements.
• Ensures Bakery area is kept clean, neat, and organized.
• Works alongside and shares in the daily duties of the other bakery staff.
• Follows proper timekeeping procedures including clocking in at the beginning of each work period, clocking out on time for meal periods, and at the end of each shift.
• Promotes teamwork and a safe, productive work environment.
• Follows bakery standard operating procedures and adheres to the daily production plan.
• Understands and follows all safety policies and practices.
• Reports to work on time and adheres to all uniform standards.
• Observes color of products being baked and adjusts oven temperatures or time accordingly.
• Performs equipment cleaning as necessary and reports broken or malfunctioning equipment immediately to the supervisor.
• Monitors for quality and consistency of finished product including, size, weight, sanitation, temperatures and identifies damaged or non-conforming goods. Minimizes waste.
• Assists with other bakery duties as needed.
