What does the Retail Parts Shipping and Receiving Associate do?

The Retail Parts Shipping and Receiving Associate verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment. They assure proper control of parts inventory and related administrative functions.

What are the day-to-day responsibilities?

1. Count, weigh, or measure items on incoming and outgoing shipments, verify information against invoices, orders, and other records.
2. Determine method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
3. Keep all bins, aisles, and storage areas clean and clearly labeled.
4. Maintain receiving and shipping records, delivery truck maintenance records, and returned parts records.
5. Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shippers to rectify damages and shortages.
6. Ensure that outgoing shipments meet specifications.
7. Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
8. Operate heavy machinery (e.g., forklift, pallet jack) as required.

What are the minimum requirements for this job?

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent.
2. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
3. One year of experience in a retail or wholesale parts department.
4. Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
5. Ability to interpret vendor catalogs and use parts department computer systems.
