The Parts Manager is a vital part of our management team, responsible for overseeing the parts department, including internal and outside sales, developing the parts business, ensuring customer satisfaction, and promoting our products and services. A strong knowledge of the heavy-duty truck and diesel engine industry is required.

Parts Manager Responsibilities

1. Ensure customer satisfaction through all necessary measures.
2. Manage personnel effectively, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance appraisal, discipline, and resolving complaints.
3. Actively participate in company sales efforts.
4. Monitor department performance and make adjustments to meet company goals.
5. Set and review annual goals and objectives.
6. Review customer pricing and develop pricing strategies.
7. Maintain proper inventory levels.
8. Accurately quote and sell parts.
9. Manage sales at the back counter, front counter, and outside sales.
10. Communicate policies, procedures, and goals to staff.

Qualities of a Successful Parts Manager

5. Knowledge of brands like Detroit Diesel, MTU, Allison, Deutz, Perkins, Volvo Penta, Freightliner, and heavy-duty truck parts is beneficial but not mandatory.
