Job summary

TrailersPlus, a Division of Interstate Group, seeks a Parts & Service Associate in Augusta, KS to perform trailer servicing, parts installations, and inventory tasks. You will interact with customers, guide service recommendations, and help maintain shop safety and organization.

The role requires a high school diploma plus 6+ months of related mechanical or service experience, with 40–45 hours per week at $18–$19 per hour. Training and certifications are provided as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus 6+ months of related mechanical, service, or assembly experience.
• Strong troubleshooting ability with hand/power tools and basic math for installations.
• Excellent communication to guide customers through service recommendations.
• Basic computer and keyboarding skills to navigate systems and process orders.
• Commitment to safety, ethics, and professional standards.
• Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and work outdoors; licensing to obtain state trailer sales license if required.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, maintenance, service work, and installations on trailers and store equipment.
• Consult with customers to recommend parts and service solutions tailored to needs.
• Receive deliveries, track inventory, process paperwork, and invoice labor and parts.
• Safely operate power tools, welding equipment, forklifts, and tractors (certifications provided).
• Maintain a clean, organized, secure, and safe facility and yard.
• Assist Store Management with warranty resolution and local lead generation.

In this multi-faceted role, you will lead the charge in keeping our operations running smoothly—handling everything from trailer servicing and parts installations to inventory maintenance and customer consultations.

What You’ll Learn To Do

• Technical & Repair Work: Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, service work, and custom accessory/parts installations on trailers and store equipment.
• Customer Engagement: Use a consultative approach during inspections to recommend the best parts and service solutions tailored to each customer’s specific needs.
• Inventory & Operations: Receive inbound deliveries (trailers, parts, supplies), track inventory, process paperwork, and ensure correct invoicing for all labor and parts.
• Equipment Operation: Safely operate power tools, welding equipment, forklifts, and tractors (company certifications provided).
• Facility Maintenance: Help maintain a clean, organized, secure, and safe facility and yard.
• Store Support: Assist the Store Management team with warranty resolution, local market lead generation, and trailer sales as needed.

What You Bring

• Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, plus 6+ months of related mechanical, service, or assembly experience.
• Mechanical Aptitude: Strong troubleshooting ability, comfortable using hand/power tools, and basic math/geometry skills for installations.
• Customer Focus: Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to guide customers through service recommendations.
• Tech‑Savvy: Basic computer and keyboarding skills to navigate online systems and process orders.
• Safety & Integrity: A strong commitment to working safely, ethically, and maintaining professional standards.
• Physical Capability: Ability to regularly lift 50–75 lbs, stand, balance, reach, climb ladders, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Licensing: Ability to obtain a state trailer sales license (where required by law).
