Job summary

Convergent Research is a nonprofit science studio building the institutions and technical infrastructure to make AI resilience real. You will own a growing portfolio of Focused Research Organizations and other scientific projects, engaging founders, funders, and researchers to push hard technical and organizational milestones.

You will recruit teams, shape theses, test ideas, raise capital, and govern multiple boards, guiding resources toward high-impact, systems-level AI safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• Understanding of the AI landscape and key players in 2026.
• Ability to form theses and identify tractable research opportunities.
• Experience raising money, budgeting, and guiding roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Roadmap the AI resilience landscape and identify keystone capabilities.
• Source and diligence ideas for new projects and design funding calls.
• Build founding teams and recruit early hires.
• Mentor founders on technical and organizational roadmaps and startup ops.
• Serve as a Director on multiple FRO boards and guide strategic decisions.
• Represent Convergent externally to funders and partners.
• Contribute to organization-wide initiatives.
