Job summary

The Red Wing Family YMCA is seeking a Part-Time Child Watch Staff member to support early childhood activities in our Child Watch room. You will engage with children, ensure safety, and deliver quality care while following YMCA policies.

This role emphasizes creating a welcoming, inclusive environment and building positive relationships with families. Shifts include evenings and weekends, with physical activity and age-appropriate activities.

Qualifications

• Experience with youth ages 4 months–9 years.
• Minimum 16 years of age, or 15 with maturity.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certifications (within 60 days).

Responsibilities

• Provides high quality customer service to all members, guests, and children in Child Watch.
• Builds authentic relationships with participants and parents; encourages parent involvement and volunteers.
• Responds to questions or concerns in a respectful manner with supervision.
• Changes diapers, handouts snacks, bring children to gym or activities, and cleans areas.
• Troubleshoots problems and communicates with supervisors and coworkers clearly.
• Participates in day-to-day tasks and interacts with kids at their level.
• Follows YMCA policies and completes incident reports as needed.
• Works shifts during events like Parent’s Day/Night Out and Fun Days.
• Fosters an inclusive environment and supports equity and diversity.
