Job summary

The Police Athletic League (PAL) of New York City is seeking Part Time Teachers to develop and implement a broad range of specialties including SEL, dance, sports, STEAM, life skills, literacy, and leadership. You will work under the COMPASS or SONYC Director and collaborate with site leadership.

You will foster social and emotional well-being, teach fundamentals of specialized activities, and coordinate culminating performances. Strong communication with caretakers and staff is essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid NYS Teaching Certificate and a bachelor's or master's degree in education.
• Minimum of two years classroom teaching experience.
• Excellent classroom and behavior management and facilitation skills.
• Bilingual in Spanish, French, or Chinese preferred.
• Willing to learn mental health, SEL, and inclusion skills.

Responsibilities

• Foster social and emotional competencies and well-being in a safe, inclusive environment.
• Teach participants the fundamentals of specialized activity to build skill and confidence.
• Coordinate and present a culminating performance at program end.
• Maintain communication with caretakers and collaborate with staff.
• Attend meetings and support staff development.
