Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston County is hiring a Youth Development Professional at the Yelm Branch to deliver safe, engaging youth programs for K–5 students and occasional teens. The role emphasizes teamwork, positive relationships, and a dynamic, energetic atmosphere.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, strong communication, and the ability to supervise multiple activity areas with CPR/First Aid certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (or current enrollment).
• Demonstrated experience working with youth, parents/guardians and/or community partners.
• Demonstrated experience working in a team environment.
• Excellent communication, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to de-escalate problems and solve day-to-day issues.
• Ability to manage groups of children through activities.
• CPR and First Aid certifications (preferred).
• Background check and pre-employment drug screening required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise activities in program areas (Games Room, Art, Gym, Education Room, Tech Lab, Outdoors).
• Deliver age-appropriate programs for children in grades K-5 (Teen Center coverage may occur).
• Actively supervise areas to promote safety and positivity.
• Maintain a high-energy, collaborative Club culture with staff.
• Promote daily program participation and engagement with parents and visitors.
• Attend staff meetings and mandatory trainings.
• Supervise front desk as needed.
• Take on additional tasks as directed.
