Job summary

Upper Palmetto YMCA is seeking a Part Time Child Watch Associate to supervise and engage children in a safe, fun environment. The role supports family relationships and YMCA mission through caring interactions and activity facilitation.

Under supervision, the caregiver will assist with events, maintain site safety, and communicate with parents while following program procedures and ADA accommodations where appropriate.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Current Infant/Child CPR certification required.
• Knowledge and experience with the care and feeding of infants, toddlers and young children.
• Ability and willingness to change diapers while using techniques to avoid exposure to blood or bodily fluids.
• Demonstrate maturity and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage behavior and diffuse situations.
• Have a positive attitude and support the mission of the Upper Palmetto YMCA.
• Carrying, sitting, seeing, hearing, speaking, running, crouching, lifting (25 Lbs.), and walking.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, secure and fun environment for children in the Child Watch program.
• Assist with special events and other activities as needed.
• Nurture children and build belonging and relationships within families.
• Tend to the needs of each child and maintain safe, clean program spaces and equipment.
• Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers.
