Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a dedicated Food Service Specialist for a therapeutic residential program serving youth ages 11–18 in Seaford, Delaware. This part-time role combines nutritious meal preparation with youth mentorship and life-skill development in the kitchen.

Responsibilities include meal prep, kitchen safety, inventory management, and leading weekly life-skills activities, with emphasis on crisis support and healthy routines.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification: Active ServSafe Certification is required.
• Experience: Previous experience in food services is highly preferred.
• Cultural Competence: Ability to interact sensitively with a culturally diverse youth population.
• Driving Record: Valid driver’s license that meets the agency7s insurance standards.

Responsibilities

• Meal Preparation & Quality: Plan, shop for, and prepare nutritionally balanced daily meals. Store leftovers safely.
• Kitchen Operations & Inventory: Manage inventory and organize the kitchen for safety and efficiency, including post-meal cleanup.
• Youth Mentorship & Support: Lead a weekly life skills class and supervise residents during kitchen activities.
• Compliance & Safety: Maintain active safe food handling certifications and adhere to health standards.
