Job summary

EASTCONN Adult & Community Programs - Community Learning Center in Windham, Connecticut is seeking a part-time Program Facilitator (hourly) to support the Youth Employment and Training Talent Pipeline programs in Eastern Connecticut.

The role provides career guidance, coordinates career fairs, and works with schools, families and partners to connect students with post-secondary options, internships, and job opportunities, with emphasis on healthcare, education and manufacturing sectors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, human development, counseling, workforce development, or other relevant field plus three years related work experience.
• Experience in case management systems and maintaining a caseload with data entry.
• Ability to thrive within diverse teams and serve people with diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent customer service, communication, mediation and de-escalation skills; verbal and written.
• Competency with Google Suite, Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to complete data-entry tasks utilizing web-based systems and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to travel within Eastern Connecticut and occasionally statewide with reliable transportation.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Provide career pathway guidance (post-secondary education/training & employment) to high school students interested in health, early childhood education and manufacturing industries.
• Raise awareness of health, early childhood education and manufacturing careers and training opportunities.
• Assist high schools in organizing and attending Career Fairs and other learning opportunities.
• Communicate with high school staff about participant progress in training.
• Coach participants through employment plan action steps, training funding procedures and job placement activities.
• Participate in recruitment, orientation, and enrollment activities.
• Provide person-centered case management services.
• Administer comprehensive career assessment tools relevant to customer needs.
• Work with Business Services Team to identify mentoring, guest speakers and job opportunities.
• Develop educational and career plans with participants.
• Provide supportive services to participants and referrals to human services and community resources.
• Maintain customer management database and required reporting.
• Assist young adults with securing work-based learning internships and permanent employment.
• Connect high school staff, participants and partners with local American Job Center resources.
