Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking a part-time yard switcher/package handler to move trailers between the yard and doors and to assist with package handling. You will coordinate movements, document operations, and perform safety checks while working in a fast-paced environment.

The role may require manual lifting and sorting of packages, with shifts from 0900 to 1800, Monday through Friday, in California. A valid license and DOT compliance are required.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• Ability to understand and follow instruction regarding work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers and information in order to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers between yard and doors as described (hooking/switching).
• Coordinate trailer movements with management or central control.
• Document trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Possibly perform Package Handler duties: loading/unloading packages into vehicles, conveyors, or carts.
• Sort packages by reading labels and numbers and using scanners.
