Job summary

Elizabeth Taber Library is seeking a part-time Young Adult Librarian to provide a full range of library services to tweens and teens, including programming, collection development, and readers advisory.

The role focuses on planning a comprehensive YA programming schedule, including evening and weekend activities, and collaboration with schools and community organizations. MLIS or equivalent experience preferred; 16-18 hours weekly with at least one evening. Starting salary is $20/hour.

Qualifications

  • Plan, organize, implement, and maintain a programming schedule for tweens and teens.
  • Develop and maintain Young Adult collections; read and select titles for purchase.
  • Lend support to children’s department for programming and planning.
  • Advocate for youth services with schools and community agencies; provide outreach.
  • Analyze statistics on youth services and prepare management reports.
  • Attend professional library conferences and staff meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, implement, and maintain a comprehensive YA programming schedule, including evenings/weekends.
  • Engage with the makerspace and provide makerspace training.
  • Support the children’s department for programming and planning.
  • Maintain a welcoming and safe environment for youth.
  • Develop and curate Young Adult Summer Reading programs.
