Job summary

The Trenton Free Public Library is expanding our staff and we are seeking a part-time Youth Services Librarian or Library Associate. The position focuses on providing reference assistance to children and families in the Children’s and Young Adult department, up to 19 hours per week.

Key duties include developing programs, organizing rooms, creating flyers and social posts, and selecting/curating Youth Services collections.

Qualifications

• MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program is required for Librarian placement.
• New Jersey Librarian’s Certification required for Librarian.
• Bachelor’s degree required for Library Associate.
• Enrollment in DCRP is noted in the posting.

Responsibilities

• Provide reference assistance to children and families.
• Develop and implement programming as assigned.
• Help organize and maintain Children’s Room, Teen Room, and Children’s Office.
• Create flyers and social media posts as assigned by the Supervisor of Youth Services.
• Responsible for weeding, selection, and overall curation of Youth Services Collections.
