Job summary

Uptown Stories in upper Manhattan is seeking a part-time teaching artist to join our three after-school writing workshop programs in public schools. Classes are built around reading, writing, and the arts, nurturing young authors.

You will design terrific curricula, teach grades 2–5, and help publish a trimester print anthology of student work. This role requires in-person availability after school, strong collaboration, and a passion for writing.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience teaching a class of children in grades 2–5.
• Skilled at creating curriculum, collaborating with other teaching artists, and coaching students toward a final published piece.
• Practicing writers or artists in their field of expertise.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

• Set up and break down the classroom space.
• Maintain regular email contact with families regarding class progress.
• Offer feedback to students about their work.
• Support trimester-end public reading and anthology publication.
