Job summary

Uptown Stories in upper Manhattan is seeking a part-time teaching artist to join three after-school writing workshop programs in public schools. Our classes focus on reading, writing and the arts, building a community of young authors.

We want artists who design terrific curricula, are engaging in the classroom, self-reliant, and able to differentiate for ages 2–5 with diverse learners. Bidirectional feedback and a public trimester publication are part of the role.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of teaching children in grades 2–5.
• Ability to create curriculum and collaborate with other artists.
• Active writer or artist in their field.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

• Set up and break down the classroom space.
• Maintain regular email contact with families regarding progress.
• Provide feedback to students about their work.
• Support trimester readings and publication of a student anthology.
